The point of sale (POS) or point of purchase (POP) is the time and place where a retail transaction is completed.

 POS transaction is being made possible by the invention of cloud- based system. It is  different from traditional POS minly because user data, including sales and inventory, are not stored locally, but in a remote server. The POS system is also not run locally, so there is no installation required.

 To cater small businesses, POS systems also can be access from mobile devices, such as tablet computers and smartphones, even Ipad.
